The clinic was built to serve the children in the orphanage as well as people in the surrounding areas. The clinic was established by a CP nurse that served as a medical missionary for several years, once she moved back to the USA it became necessary to formulate a new plan of ministry in order to continue the clinic ministry.

The General Assembly Missions Ministry Team developed a multi-year mission plan. The plan has ambitious goals for the clinic, as well as far reaching evangelism goals for Guatemala. At the core of the mission plan is the deployment of a missionary to administer the medical clinic. The clinic administrator maintains medical personnel for the clinic, as well as provides oversight of the clinic’s programs and services. The plan will add missionaries anticipating a future team of CP missionaries working in Guatemala. This team will maintain the clinic as well as plant CP churches.

Anay Ortega will use her business skills in order to secure medical workers in Guatemala to provide medical care to our target group. Our goal is to establish a self-sufficient clinic that provides free service to the children at the orphanage.
In addition to establishing a functioning medical clinic, we also plan to begin outreach and evangelism. Anay has experience, training and a passion for evangelism. We will start with home study groups and at some point in the future attempt to establish a CP Church. This will eventually require the deployment of more missionaries.
Outreach
The medical clinic has a pediatrician, Dr. Miriam Azucena Rosal, that serves the children of the orphanage and children in the surrounding area. The pediatrician is provided by the Missions Ministry Team through the contributions made to this mission project. The doctor maintains office hours at the clinic each weekday and is on call when needed. The children of the clinic receive free medical care through the support of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
